The future city is meant to provide a habitat with increased air quality and a transport system with lower emissions.
The city of Aachen was sued in 2016, among five other cities in North Rhine Westphalia, for its elevated nitrogen dioxide values.
Our goal is to provide custom-tailored mobility services in an eco-friendly and efficient manner. Up to date, there are only insufficient approaches to address this issue in a cost-effective way.
Accordingly, we develop a concept for implementing an innovative and intelligent urban mobility solution. A collaboration of innovative companies, situated in Aachen, will realize this through a customer-centric service platform for autonomously driving E-shuttles.
Until the end of 2020, we develop a platform based business model, which will be validated technologically, economically and by user feedback.
The core of our platform is an algorithm, fed through various data interfaces. This enables us to analyze the impact of e.g. weather and traffic on the service usage. On this basis the platform will process real time and predictive data for service usage forecasts.
A mobile application is the basis of our customer communication. Our users can find out when and where they are picked up by the PeopleMover, as well as the trip price.
The platform is build modular. Hence, it is assured that prospective business models are able to participate in the anonymous data transfer.
The platform offers a visual interface, that enables the operator to supervise the fleet and interfere if needed.
A significant part of our mobility solution is the electrically powered PeopleMover. The different grades of it's automation will be increased step-by- step during the time span of the research project.
